Three-dimensional volume reconstruction from slice data using phase-field models

چکیده
We propose the application of a phase-field framework for three-dimensional volume reconstruction using slice data. The proposed method is based on the Allen–Cahn and Cahn–Hilliard equations, and the algorithm consists of two steps. First, we perform image segmentation on the given raw data using a modified Allen– Cahn equation. Second, we reconstruct a three-dimensional volume using amodified Cahn–Hilliard equation. In the modified Cahn–Hilliard equation, a fidelity term is introduced to keep the solution close to the slice data. The numerical methods use a hybrid method and an unconditionally stable nonlinear splitting scheme. The resulting discrete equations are solved using a multigrid method. The experiments on synthetic and real medical images are performed to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method. © 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

GPU accelerated iterative SENSE reconstruction of radial phase encoded whole-heart MRI
Isotropic whole-heart imaging has become an important protocol in simplifying cardiac MRI. The acquisition time can however be a limiting factor when acquiring large field-of-views at high spatial resolutions. To reduce acquisition times, a three-dimensional (3D) acquisition scheme combining Cartesian sampling in the readout direction with a radial sampling scheme in the phase encoding plane, w...
متن کاملDosimetric uncertainties of three‐dimensional dose reconstruction from two‐dimensional data in a multi‐institutional study
Inconsistencies in the treatment planning process leading to dosimetric uncertainties may affect conclusions drawn from interinstitutional radiation oncology clinical trials. The purpose of this study was to assess the dosimetric uncertainties resulting from the process of reconstructing three-dimensional dose distributions from two-dimensional treatment plan information provided by participati...
متن کاملThe effect of computed tomographic scanner parameters and 3-dimensional volume rendering techniques on the accuracy of linear, angular, and volumetric measurements of the mandible.
OBJECTIVES This study investigates the effect of scanning parameters on the accuracy of measurements from three-dimensional (3D), multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) mandible renderings. A broader range of acceptable parameters can increase the availability of computed tomographic (CT) studies for retrospective analysis. STUDY DESIGN Three human mandibles and a phantom object were scann...
متن کاملSlice-to-Volume Nonrigid Registration of Histological Sections to MR Images of the Human Brain
Registration of histological images to three-dimensional imaging modalities is an important step in quantitative analysis of brain structure, in architectonic mapping of the brain, and in investigation of the pathology of a brain disease. Reconstruction of histology volume from serial sections is a well-established procedure, but it does not address registration of individual slices from sparse...
متن کاملThree-dimensional CFD modeling of fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics of Al2O3/water nanofluid in microchannel heat sink with Eulerian-Eulerian approach
In this paper, three-dimensional incompressible laminar fluid flow in a rectangular microchannel heat sink (MCHS) using Al2O3/water nanofluid as a cooling fluid is numerically studied. CFD prediction of fluid flow and forced convection heat transfer properties of nanofluid using single-phase and two-phase model (Eulerian-Eulerian approach) are compared. Hydraulic and thermal performance of microch...
